MA Holds First CCAL Cheer Competition!

The MA Cheer team hosted the first ever CCAL Cheer Competition on Saturday, 2/24/18. Coach Thompson organized the event and arranged volunteers and judges, James Irwin helped supply the competition mats, and our volunteers made everything run smoothly. By all accounts it seemed that everyone had a great time! In the competition MA came out on top with some impressive scores awarded by the judges! Great job everyone!

The Monument Academy Cheer Team attended the NCA Cheer Camp at the University of Colorado at Colorado Spring on July 19th through the 22nd. During this grueling camp experience, this amazing group of girls bonded as teammates, learned new skills, and earned many awards & recognitions. Our very own cheer team won the “Most Improved” Trophy for all around improvement demonstrated during camp. They received the “Stunt SAFE” award for displaying excellent technique in safety, spotting and stunting. They also won the coveted “Spirit Award”! The other teams voted for MA Cheer as the team that had added the most spirit to camp! They also received the spirit stick each day during camp!

There were 7 All-American Nominees: Rhone Peterson, Anna Leighty, Hannah Beringer, Braylen Howarth, Jenna Moore, Katy Miller, and Madyson Brooks. Rhone Peterson was awarded the All American award! Christy Wood received the “Pin it Forward” pin for demonstrating the positive qualities of a cheerleader. Coaches Sarah Thompson and Jessica Coote completed the Coach Credentialing Program. And finally, the MA Cheer Team won a bid to the NCA Nationals in Texas! These wonderful leaders have worked so hard all summer long to be prepared for this school year and they look forward to bringing spirit & joy to every corner of Monument Academy! Give the cheerleaders some much deserved praise and encouragement this year as you see them around the school, games, and community! GO LYNX!
