Mr. Herbert grew up the son of a Navy helicopter pilot, so naturally he moved around a lot. Nearly 20 times, in fact. Colorado, Texas, California, Washington, D.C., Florida, New Mexico, and Virginia have all been called home at some point in his life.

Mr. Herbert began his teaching career at the age of sixteen when he became a swim instructor for elementary students at his local pool. Upon graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara with his undergraduate degree, he went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Education and his California Teaching Credential from Azusa Pacific University.

This is Mr. Herbert’s 14th year in education and his 3rd year at Monument Academy. He has taught from 2nd grade to college students but his heart is in teaching middle school students the fascinating world of History.

Besides teaching World History, Mr. Herbert is also the advisor for the middle school Student Council, as well as the student run Risk Club.

In his other life, he enjoys fly fishing, gardening, and planning his motorcycle trip around the world.
