Shawn Stamper spent 20 years in the Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst; a systems administrator; an equipment tester, fielder, and integrator; and a trainer and mentor. After retiring, Mr. Stamper spent one year as a substitute teacher, including an entire semester with a fourth-grade class, before gaining employment as an IT specialist, server administrator, and network engineer. Mr. Stamper has a bachelor’s degree from American Military University and dual associate’s degrees in Computer and Networking Technology and Information Security and Assurance.
While not technically a Colorado native, he spent a considerable amount of his childhood growing up in Greeley. He enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, camping, and grilling.

Mrs. Duca was born and raised in Colorado. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and earned a Secondary Teaching Certificate from Colorado State University-Pueblo. Mrs. Duca earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Additionally, she earned her Principal License from Adams State University. Mrs. Duca began her teaching career in 2005 and has experience as a classroom teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal. Mrs. Duca started at MA in December 2021, and she is very excited to be a part of the MA team! She is delighted to work with such a caring staff and amazing students! She and her husband have two children who are both graduates of Colorado State University. During her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and hiking with family and friends.

Mrs. Bartlett grew up in Arkansas. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Maryland at College Park and her Master’s Degree in School Library and Information Technologies from Mansfield University. The Colorado Springs area has been her home for over 20 years. She has taught Social Studies, English, and Library Technology for 18 years. She lives in Black Forest and enjoys riding bikes, ATVs, reading, and spending time with family. Her husband is a 5th generation Coloradan and she has a daughter finishing college and a son who attends MA. Mrs. Bartlett is looking forward to her new role in the Technology Department at Monument Academy.

Kelly Collier has been the Librarian at Monument Academy since 2009. She is the Battle of Books coordinator for D38 and the school. She is passionate about books and children having skills, knowledge, and information to understand the world around them.
She was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, graduated from Colorado State University, and worked in broadcast television news. After moving to Monument in 1999 and volunteering at MA, she discovered her love of working in education pursued a second career as a Librarian.
When she’s not at school, you will find her doing her other many favorite pursuits with family and friends.

This is Emily Davis’ first year at Monument Academy as the High School Counselor serving the 9th and 10th grades. Emily’s favorite part about being a School Counselor is helping students realize their potential as they prepare for life after high school. School Counselors support students in three domains including Academics (Credit Tracking, Transcript Audits, Scheduling), College/Career (Concurrent Enrollment, Naviance: ICAPs, Scholarships, College/Job Applications & Resumes, etc.), and Social Emotional Development (Crisis, Grief, Character, Friendships, Mental Health Support & Resources).
Emily is in her 6th year as a School Counselor and comes to MA with counseling experience at all grade levels in varying school sizes and community types. She earned her Master of Science in Professional School Counseling at Minnesota State University – Mankato. Prior to earning her master’s degree, she worked as a Civil Engineer earning her Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University, Go Bison! Since moving to Colorado over 4 years ago, Emily, her husband, Trent, sons, Braden & Jaxon, and pup, Beau, together enjoy backpacking, hiking, camping, and paddleboarding.

Desiree Floyd is a Colorado native from Peyton and has a family tree full of teachers and musicians. For college, she attended Colorado State University-Pueblo and pursued a bachelor’s degree in music, double emphasizing in piano and voice and minoring in education. After graduating in 2013, she taught elementary general music, band and orchestra before arriving at Monument Academy in 2015 to teach middle school choir – her dream job! Miss Floyd is thrilled to be continuing her work this year at Monument Academy with incredible staff members and amazing students!

Señor Harry Grover was born in Glens Falls, NY, shortly after the Beatles completed their first United States tour. Señor Grover was raised in the tiny town of Brookline, NH. In 1986, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Spanish. In 1990, he earned a Masters of Education in Curriculum Design and Instruction. Both degrees were earned at The University of Lowell (now known as University of Massachusetts-Lowell). Before entering the education profession, Señor Grover was a radio broadcaster and producer. Teaching has always been his dream profession and he is currently in his 30th year of doing the job that he loves. Señor Grover spent 22 years teaching in New Hampshire, before moving to Colorado in 2011. Señor Grover has been teaching at Monument Academy since August of 2018. The natural beauty of the state of Colorado is something that he never tires of experiencing.

Erin Hastedt joined MA as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator in the 2019-2020 school year. She brings over 20 years of experience in the field of gifted education, an endorsement in GT and is SENG trained. Her approach to gifted education is personal, individualized and need-based.
Mrs. Hastedt grew up and went to college in Boston, Massachusetts before moving to Denver in 1994 to pursue a post-graduate degree in education at the University of Denver. In 2016 she got her K-12 endorsement in gifted education. While in high school and college, she was a dedicated and successful student-athlete with a decorated career in both soccer and track.
In her free time she loves to read, workout, listen to music and watch sports of all kinds, especially soccer!

Carrie started volunteering in the counseling department at Monument Academy in 2015 and presently is the school’s Social Worker. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida in Psychology, Master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas San Antonio, and is a licensed Social Worker with the state of Colorado. Carrie brings many years of experience and enthusiasm to the students and staff at Monument Academy. She has a long history working with children and adolescents in the areas of crisis intervention, running elementary and middle school groups, developing, and maintaining mental health programs. Her focus has been on anger management and suicide awareness as well as working with high-risk adolescents and teaching them social and life skills.
Carrie has been married since 1999, she and her husband have 5 daughters with 4 of them attending Monument Academy and the other previously acting in a teaching capacity. They have been a part of the military community for the last 19 years, have lived in many places and are happy to call Monument home! Carrie enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling, watching her girls play soccer, basketball, gymnastics, cheer, and track while creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Cristin Patterson is a professional musician who has lived in Colorado since she was five years old. She attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has performed in numerous orchestras, chamber music groups, marching bands, and rock bands, across the U.S. and internationally. Mrs. Patterson taught private music lessons for 19 years in Highlands Ranch and moved to Monument in 2015 to pioneer a Strings program at Monument Academy. She teaches 4th and 5th grade Strings and Middle and High School Orchestras. She enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and their two children.

Emily Vieira was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. During college it was always her dream to move to Colorado and shortly after graduation, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Emily is excited to join the Monument Academy staff and to meet her students and their families! She is a dedicated Health and Physical Educator with the goal to deliver relevant learning experiences that engage, challenge, and inspire student to become the best versions of themselves.

Andi Rankin is thrilled to join the fine arts department as the new Drama Teacher! She graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2005 with a double major in English Literature and The Performing Arts. After college, she moved to New York City to pursue her love of acting, attending The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Alvin Ailey School of Dance. Returning to Colorado in 2014, Andi pursued a career in special education and joined Monument Academy as an ESS Teacher in 2016. While she loved her position with ESS, her students, and families, Andi is excited to begin this new journey. Andi enjoys exploring the great outdoors, snowshoeing, hiking, and biking with her friends and family. A little couch time with her hubby and two lazy cats isn’t too shabby either.

Born in Massachusetts into an Air Force family, Ms. Scaling spent her childhood in a variety of locations and schools throughout the US and world, including Turkey and Germany, until her family ended up in Oklahoma. From there, she attended Oklahoma State University (NOT OU), majoring in Elementary Education, with emphasis on middle school education. She completed her student teaching at the Pan American School in Costa Rica before receiving her degree and transitioning to Colorado Springs. She began her professional teaching journey in a 7th grade science classroom, and then moving on to teaching 5th grade, 6th-8th grade math and 6th-8th grade science. When she’s not teaching, Ms. Scaling spends her time either with her two children, Evie and Sebastian, or exploring anywhere and everywhere. She is known for getting “intentionally” lost in order to find someplace new and exciting.

Crystal Sebastian is from a small town called Rifle on the western slope of Colorado. She started teaching middle school art at MA in 2019 previously teaching in Pueblo and Castle Rock, Colorado for a total of 10 years. She has two degrees one in Art and one in Art Education K-12 specializing in Art History, Ceramics, Drawing, and Design from Adams State University. Mrs. Sebastian has great appreciation of the lakes and wildlife since she moved to Monument and looks forward to many years at Monument Academy.
