MA Wins Another Cheer Competition!

Monument Academy Cheer competed at the Mile-High Spirit Championship on November 17th at South High School in Denver. After weeks of practices at MA, as well as extra practices at Lewis Palmer High School, the girls were ready to compete for the first time this year.

They arrived at the competition bright & early and felt pretty nervous. After a few minutes of practice in the warm-up room and a motivational pep talk from the coaches, they were ready to hit the mats! They performed an amazing routine that was so much fun to watch! Everyone on the team did their best, and the coaches could not be more proud! MA Cheer won a first-place trophy! Way to go ladies!

Congratulations!

The Monument Academy Cheer Team attended the NCA Cheer Camp at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on July 25th through the 28th. During this grueling camp experience, this amazing group of girls bonded as teammates, learned new skills, and earned many awards & recognitions. Our very own cheer team won the “Top Team Chant” trophy and the “Top Band Chant” trophy. They also received the spirit stick for several days of camp!

There were 8 All-American Nominees: Annie Phillips, Jenna Moore, Katie Miller, Leslie Taylor, Braylen Howarth, Kaeley Grob, Halle Marsh, and Christy Wood. Annie Phillips was one of only 2 cheerleaders who were awarded the All American award! Christy Wood received the “Pin it Forward” pin for demonstrating the positive qualities of a cheerleader. Katie Miller won the “Leadership” Award. Coaches Sarah Thompson and Megan Lawson completed the Coach Credentialing Program. Coach Sarah Thompson was awarded the “Herkie Award” for excellence in building team unity & displaying a passion for learning. And finally, the MA Cheer Team won a bid to the NCA Nationals in Texas! These wonderful leaders have worked so hard all summer long to be prepared for this school year and they look forward to bringing spirit & joy to every corner of Monument Academy! Give the cheerleaders some much deserved praise and encouragement this year as you see them around the school, games, and community! GO LYNX!
