Mrs. Cavanagh lives in Castle Rock, but is originally from California. While living in Southern California, she taught for 11 years before moving with her family to Colorado in 2006. She took a year off from teaching to get her family settled in their new life in Colorado and then returned to teaching for Douglas County School District. In 2010, she completed her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading from Grand Canyon University. After nine years of teaching in Douglas County, she chose to join the Monument Academy family in 2017 to teach first grade, the grade that is closest to her heart. At the end of her first year at MA she was presented with an amazing opportunity in the RtI department where she will be able to work with students in all grades.
She has been married to her husband Brad for 24 years and they have two children who are 19 year-old boy/girl twins. Her son Tanner attends CU Boulder and her daughter Jamison attends Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Now that she is an empty nester, she spends all her free time with her husband and their black and tan furry kids, Kobe and Kali. Kobe and Kali are the most adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who love to cuddle and keep this CA girl warm. Her hobby is traveling whenever and where ever she can. Her favorite place is the South Pacific. A few summers ago her family traveled to Australia and then last summer she and her husband went to New Zealand and Fiji to celebrate his birthday.
