A School of Excellence Since 1996

October 5, 2023

Dear MA Families,

As I write this letter, we are just seven days away from the end of the first quarter, and I am very proud to share that the state of Monument Academy High School is strong.

Just this week we were approved to begin using our new exterior classrooms to support our growing student body.  Additionally, late last month we were given access to see the outstanding academic achievement of our students, as shown on our School Performance Framework (SPF) which is released each year by the CDE.

Facilities

We were very pleased to receive our Occupancy Permit for our four new exterior classrooms, or “Cottages”, as we are referring to them.

For the first time this Wednesday, we held classes in the Cottages, and both students and teachers were excited to be in their new locations.

Thank you for your patience while we creatively taught classes in alternate locations while awaiting our permit requests to funnel through the various regional and state agencies.

Student Performance

As I wrote to my high school families last week, I am exceptionally pleased with our students’ academic achievement on last spring’s PSAT and SAT exams.

The high school’s collective academic achievement attained an exceeds rating, which is the top rating available to schools.  Furthermore, our students performed so well that we earned nearly 100% of the available points for achievement on the School Performance Framework, thus achieving the highest rating possible from the Colorado Department of Education.

However, we will not rest on these laurels.  As a school of excellence, we continue to seek areas in which to improve.  One of our focus areas this year will be in maximizing how our students’ performance grows over the course of the year, and we look forward to exploring new and innovative ways to partner with our families to achieve that goal.

Warm regards,

David W. Kennington
